Notable Members of Geneva Medical College

Despite a relatively brief existence from 1835 to 1871, the Geneva Medical College hosted some of the earliest pioneers of the medical field, both as students and professors, including Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first women to receive a medical degree in the United States; Dr. Edward Cutbush “the father of naval medicine”; and Dr. Peter Wilson (Waowawanaonk), who was likely the first Native American to receive a degree in medicine.
